Social Service Professions Bill

The Social Service Professions Act (No. 110 of 1978) regulates professional practice and establishes the South African Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP). This Act is outdated and will be replaced.

A new draft bill, the Social Service Professions Bill 2008, was published for comment in the Government Gazette in January 2008. But the process of developing the Bill was put on hold in 2010, pending the Department of Social Development finalising a policy that outlines the vision and intended impact of the legislation.

Quotes

I must congratulate … CI with your efforts in promoting the rights of children and educating the public and civil servants like myself in the process. The website has succeeded in creating order in the field and access to reports are most useful. Well done, it is clear that you and your team are committed to your challenge in education and awareness.
L Pieterse, Parliamentary Officer, July 2004
